The St Anne's Church is a Roman Catholic church building in the Scottish city of Glasgow . In 1979 the building was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

history

St Anne's Church is the first church building designed by Jack Coia of Gillespie, Kidd & Coia . The design was presented in 1932 and the church was completed in 1935. The total cost was £ 30,000.

description

St Anne's Church is located on Whitevale Street in the eastern Dennistoun district of Glasgow . The building shows features of neo-Romanesque architecture with early eclectic details. Its masonry is made of red brick with details in contrasting colors. The main portal on the western front is designed with three round arches . Archibald Dawson is responsible for the stone carving . The facade closes with a broken triangular gable . High arched windows run along the flanks, closing far above the eaves. The roofs are covered with red shingles.

The rectory adjoins the south side . The two-story building is asymmetrical. Its entrance door closes with a round arch. The windows are decorated with stone crosses. Distinctive chimneys protrude from the hipped roofs .
