St Helens Island is a granite island with an area of 51 hectares , on the northeast coast of Tasmania , Australia . The island is part of the Waterhouse Island Group . The island is a protected area and was burned down in the past, but it is still badly affected by rabbits . The island is part of the St Helens Important Bird Area .
fauna
Among the recorded on the island of sea birds are little penguin , petrel , white-faced storm petrel , Pacific Gull and Silver Gull . Wild rabbits were introduced. Skinks live on the island .
