The State Academy of Physical Education and Sport ( Georgia საქართველოს ფიზიკური აღზრდისა და სპორტის სახელმწიფო სასწავლო უნივერსიტეტი ; English State Academy of Physical Education and Sport of Georgia ) is a 1938 university founded in Tbilisi , the capital of Georgia .
In 1938 the university was founded as a state body culture institute and independent higher education institution. In 1994 state recognition took place. In 2007 the university was integrated into the Ilia State University .
On March 28, 2013, the state of Georgia restored the original independence. On May 19, 2014, the university was opened, initially limited to five years, and the institution was officially recognized as a university.
