The State Technical University of the Don Region ( Russian Донской государственный технический университет ; Transcription: Donskoi gossudarstwenny technitscheski uniwersitet ) is a Russian university in Rostov-on-Don .
history
On May 14, 1930, the North Caucasian Institute for Agricultural Machinery was founded with two faculties ( agricultural machinery construction and cold processing technology ) with 12 academic teachers and 217 students. In 1938 the institute was renamed the Rostov-on-Don Mechanical Engineering Institute and until 1992 it was the leading facility for agricultural machinery and high-speed turning in the Soviet Union . In 1937 the combine harvester Stalinez -1 was developed here in cooperation with Rostselmasch , which received a gold medal at the world exhibition in Paris. In 1940 there were already 21 departments and 14 courses. In 1941 the institute and Rostselmasch were evacuated to Tashkent . Most of the buildings were destroyed by German bombs. Teaching began again in August 1943. At the end of the 1940s, harvesting machines for corn and sunflowers were newly developed on the basis of the Stalinez . In the 1960s, faculties and courses were added to support the organization of mass production.
University
On December 24, 1992, the institute was elevated to a university. Today it offers a broad spectrum of over 100 courses of study from mathematics and solid state physics to mechanical engineering, automation technology and industrial management to history, education and social philosophy in 16 faculties. In addition, she takes on an important function for higher technical vocational training in cooperation with regional companies. Its role as a research center is particularly pronounced in the field of mathematical processes in solid-state physics , tribology , thermodynamics and welding and joining technology. There are regional branches in Volgodonsk , Taganrog , Azow and Essentuki .
