The State University of Southern Urals (SUSU), Russian Южно-Уральский государственный университет (ЮУрГУ) ( Yuzhno-Uralsky Gosudarstwenny Uniwersitinsk ) is a university in the Russian city of Chelyabinsk .
overview
On December 15, 1943, the Institute of Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering was founded in Chelyabinsk. There were requirements to provide defense companies with engineers during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.
The university is currently one of the largest educational institutions in Russia and is among the top ten in the Ministry of Education's rating. SUSU has over 50,000 students and 5,000 teachers and staff, including 1,360 professors. The university has 13 regional campuses , 35 faculties , 166 institutes and two special faculties for general and professional development. The library inventory amounts to 2.5 million volumes.
The further education area includes several linguistic centers equipped with modern digital technology, a supercomputer , the center for high school graduates, the institute for open and the institute for distance education . Projects aimed at gifted children are organized as part of the international programs “Odyssey of the Mind” and “Step into the Future”.
The training is based on 15 programs of basic education, 19 programs of secondary education, 203 programs of higher education (including Bachelor and Magister ) and 71 subject areas of aspirational and doctoral studies. By 2006, SUSU had a total of over 127,000 graduates. 2100 doctors and 440 professors defended their dissertations .
The research administration coordinates the following institutes
- Research institutes of digital systems and chemical problems of economic ecology of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences
- the Science Center of the Urals Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences
- the State Scientific Institution "South Urals Innovation Center of New Technologies"
- the engineering center of automation and administration
The university is active in the Bologna process , the renewal of the higher education system in Russia and integration with European universities.
