Viktor Borissowitsch Christenko ( Russian Виктор Борисович Христенко ; born August 28, 1957 in Chelyabinsk ) is a Russian politician. From February 24 to March 5, 2004 he served as Prime Minister of Russia on an interim basis .

biography

Khristenko graduated from the Chelyabinsk Polytechnic University and the Academy of Economics with an engineering degree. From 1979 to 1990 he was a lecturer in economics of mechanical engineering at the Chelyabinsk Polytechnic.

He later became Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation. Since May 1999 he has been Vice Prime Minister of the Russian Government and Acting Prime Minister. On February 24, President Putin dismissed the previous prime minister, Mikhail Kasyanov , and Christenko continued to act on a provisional basis. On March 1, 2004, Putin nominated Mikhail Fradkov as the new Prime Minister. Four days later he was confirmed by the Duma and replaced Christenko.

During a government reshuffle on March 9, 2004, Khristenko moved from the post of Deputy Prime Minister to Minister of Industry. Khristenko was Minister of Industry and Trade until January 31, 2012. His successor in office is Denis Manturov .

From February 2012 to February 2016, Christenko was chairman of the board of the Eurasian Economic Commission. In May 2016 he took over the Economic Council of the Eurasian Economic Union .

Christenko has been running the Russian Golf Association since February 2015.

Private

Khristenko has been married to Vladimir Putin's economic policy spokesperson, Tatiana Alexejewna Golikova , since 2003 .
