The state advanced high school Alzey is located in the district town of Alzey in the district of Alzey-Worms in Rheinhessen in southeastern Rhineland-Palatinate . The Aufbaugymnasium enables students from Germany to acquire the Abitur. The prerequisite is the completion of the 10th grade (lower secondary level), which can also be acquired at the school itself.
history
On November 3, 1880, the school was founded under the name "Grand Ducal Teachers' Seminar ", as the population grew and the number of students rose and more teachers were needed. At that time "only a small town came into question as the seat of the seminar: that was Alzey". First of all, elementary school pupils were able to attend a 2-year preparation institute after they were 14 years old, followed by the three-class seminar; later the preparation phase was omitted and merged with the seminar time, which then lasted six years. The first director of the seminar was Heinrich Eisenhuth, who took office on August 15, 1880.
From 1921 the school became the "Hessische Aufbauschule", where students had the opportunity to obtain their Abitur. The first headmaster was Karl Frenzel, who was followed by Albert Streuber in 1925. Due to the high school fees , there were too few registrations in 1933, which is why the school was closed.
During the Nazi era , the school was misused and various organizations such as the SA settled in the school. Part of the school was reopened in 1938 as the "Upper School for Boys in Construction". During the war there were repeated interruptions in school operations, among other things because paper was running out or school books were no longer printed. The first headmaster of the high school was Ludwig Ebert.
After the Second World War, the school building was occupied by US soldiers. They used the school as a barracks. After the change of occupation, an application to restart school operations was submitted to the French administration. When the buildings were ready for use again, school operations were resumed on October 20, 1947 under the name "Ecole Normale du Premier Cycle". In 1953, the school was named "State Pestalozzi Advanced School". On October 1st, 1956, the school was named "Staatliches Aufbaugymnasium", which is still valid today. In 1973 the school introduced the MSS system .
Between 1979 and 1981, the alternative seat of the Rhineland-Palatinate state government was built under the gymnasium and was kept in operation until 1992. This bunker has been open to the public since 2011.
In 2010 the " Landeskunstgymnasium Rheinland-Pfalz " was founded in Alzey, which is part of the school.

State Art High School
The " Landeskunstgymnasium Rheinland-Pfalz " was founded in 2010 and is under one roof with the advanced high school. Subjects such as religion or French are taught together with the students of the advanced high school.
organization
The Aufbaugymnasium is one of the few schools sponsored by the State of Rhineland-Palatinate. Young people from grade 10 up to grade 13 are taught. The students from abroad are offered places in a boarding school. An expansion of the school grounds is being planned. A three-story building is to be built.
Boarding school
In order to enable students from all over Germany to attend the Aufbaugymnasium or the Landeskunstgymnasium, there is the possibility of moving into a room in the boarding school. The students are housed separately, the girls in the Alzey castle, the boys and girls of legal age in the boarding school on the school grounds. All boarding school students are accommodated in 2-bed rooms. Class 13 students can use a room for themselves, provided that it is occupied. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are freshly prepared daily in the school's own large kitchen and can be eaten in the school's dining room. A modernization of the boarding school is being planned.
