The State Choir Kaunas ( lit.Kauno valstybinis choras ) is a state choir in the second largest Lithuanian city ​​of Kaunas . It was founded on October 23, 1969.

The choir prepared over 150 musical works from classical to modern. He had concerts in Moscow and Saint Petersburg , sang in the Russian music festivals "Russian Winter", "Moscow Stars". In 1984 the choir performed the “Spring Symphony” No. 7 by Mikis Theodorakis (* 1925) in Paris . He then performed with the conductor Herbert Kegel (1920–1990) at the Schauspielhaus Berlin . The choir worked with Yehudi Menuhin (1916–1999) and toured France , Italy , Spain , Germany , Egypt and Russia . At times the pianist Justus Frantz worked together.

The choir rehearses in the Kaunas Philharmonic .
