The State Institute for School Quality and Educational Research (ISB) is a Bavarian authority that aims to improve the quality of the Bavarian school system. The seat is in Munich .

tasks

One of the goals of the ISB is to make research findings and practical experience usable for schools. It supports and advises the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture in the further development of the structured Bavarian school system. The work of the ISB should benefit all types of schools.

The institute promotes pedagogical, didactic and methodical work in Bavarian schools, develops curricula for all types of schools, contributes to the creation of central examination tasks and tests, supports internal school development , continuously records data and findings on the Bavarian school system and provides comprehensive educational monitoring Recommendations for quality assurance in Bavarian schools, encourages school trials, accompanies them and evaluates them, makes knowledge and content of media education and media didactics as well as information and communication technology usable for schools, participates in teacher training and works together with the institutions of teacher training .

structure

The division into four school departments follows the structure of the divided Bavarian school system. The policy department and the media department work across schools. Central tasks are located in the "Central Services" area.

Particularly qualified teachers of the respective school type work in the school departments. In addition to teaching staff from various types of schools, the media department and the policy department include employees from the fields of educational sciences, psychology, sociology and social geography, as well as from data processing.

history

The facility was founded in 1966 as the “Institute for High School Education”, expanded in 1971 to become the “State Institute for School Education”, and in 1984 as the “State Institute for School Education and Educational Research”. It has had its current name since 2003.
