history
The State Cup was launched in 2004 on the initiative of the then Governor Blairo Maggi and was therefore also known as the Governor's Cup . Since 2010, his win has been linked to qualification for the national cup competition of the Copa do Brasil . In 2015, the participating clubs competed with U-21 youth teams.
In 2017, two months after the end of the Copa, the Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (STJD) returned nine points from the first round to the União EC . With these nine points, União finished fourth and qualified for the semi-finals instead of the Mixto EC . The already played semi-final, Dom Bosco versus Mixto, was canceled and União played a new semi-final against Dom Bosco. União won the final on penalties.
