The staff academy of the Bundeswehr (StAkBw) existed from 1966 to 1974 in Hamburg .

The staff academy was set up on October 1, 1966 with the establishment order No. 130. She was responsible for the partial armed forces-specific training and further education of officers in the third level (Army officer school, military academy and staff academy). For the professional soldiers from 1967 to 1973 three-month staff academy courses were offered as a prerequisite for promotion to staff officer , i.e. H. Major , were true.

The commander ( Colonel Günter Will ) was supported by a two-part teaching staff (scientific, military) and three teaching groups (A, B and C), which in turn were divided into four lecture halls . The academy was subordinate to the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn. In the course of the fundamental reform of the Bundeswehr in 1974, the function of the staff academy was partially transferred to the command academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw), also in Hamburg.

The lecturers included u. a. Heinz Brill and Klaus-Jürgen Müller .
