The Stade Olympique in the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott is a multi-purpose stadium that is mainly used for football games, but athletics competitions are also held there. There is space for up to 40,000 spectators in the stadium. The Mauritanian national football team plays their games in the stadium, as do most of the Ligue 1 clubs .
