The Amelia City Archives (Archivio Comunale della Banda Municipale) is located in Piazzale Boccarini (Via Boccarini, 2) in Amelia ( Terni ) in Umbria .
history
The law to set up a municipal archive was not implemented in Amelia for a long time. But for some time now , an archive with a depository and reading room has been set up in the Palazzo Boccarini , the seat of the city library and the Biblioteca comunale Luciano Lama . The archive holds 7000 archival units, their consultation can only take place by appointment. The palace belonged to the Boccarini, a family that can be archived there until the late 12th century.
Until 1809 the palace was the seat of the papal governatore, whose area of office included Amelia, Orvieto and Terni. Most of the holdings have gone to the Terni State Archives . With the unification of Italy , the Convitto Boccarini was created and in 1932 the building became the seat of the Salesians . The cloister opposite the museum was realized in the style of the Renaissance of the 16th century by Fra ' Egidio Delfini . In the house there is also the archaeological museum and the municipal collection of paintings. There are also some independent funds in the library.
