History and architecture
The first installation probably took place after the city fire of 1373. The walls and gates were largely removed after the city fire of 1795. Remains of the quarry stone wall are preserved on the street Auf der Mauer ; the round witch's tower forms the eastern end. The wall at Kurkölner Platz , including the round tower there, was largely renewed from 1957 to 1961.
