The Heinrich Heine City Library is a public library sponsored by the Thuringian city ​​of Gotha . It is named after Heinrich Heine . In addition to the main facility, there is also a children's and youth library.

The city library was located in the former orange house of the Orangery Gotha until the end of 2013 . The children's and youth library was located in the western old town. At the beginning of 2014, the company moved to the nearby, rebuilt Winter Palace on Friedrichstrasse.

At the new location, the children's and adult libraries have been merged into one building. About 60,000 media (as of March 2014) are offered on a usable area of ​​2,000 m². At the time of the move in March 2014, 5,315 users were registered.
