The Ratingen City Library is a public city ​​library that is maintained by the City of Ratingen . In addition to the main office in the city center ( ), there are branches in the districts of Hösel , Homberg , Lintorf and West .

The library, which was opened on April 1, 1906 as the library of the Bergisches Verein für Gemeinwohl with a stock of 178 volumes, was initially housed in a small room in the school building on Minoritenstraße. On April 13, 1991, the new library building (media center) was opened after it had been housed in the community center since 1972 .

In 2015 there were 129,609 media in the inventory, which together were borrowed 504,579 times.
