Quezon City Prison

The city jail Quezon ( Quezon City Jail ) is located in Quezon City to the northeast of Manila , Philippines , in the National Capital Region (NCR) and reports to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

The prison was designed for 800 inmates. With 3800 prisoners there are almost five times as many people as planned. In 2014, there was a riot and hostage-taking among the prisoners, in which 42 people were taken hostage.

Overcrowding and prison riots have also been reported from other BJMP prisons in the National Capital Region, such as Navotas City Jail and Las Piñas City Jail.
