The town hall Erkelenz has been in the center of the town of Erkelenz , on Franziskanerplatz , since 1957 . Between autumn 2007 and December 2008 it was extensively expanded and rebuilt. It is the largest pure event and exhibition hall in the Heinsberg district . The owner and operator is a local municipal company, the Kultur GmbH of the city of Erkelenz, founded in 2007 (managing director: First Deputy Hans-Heiner Gotzen).

Furnishing

The Erkelenz town hall has a maximum of 626 visitor places (row seating) or a maximum visitor potential of 1,700 people (for concerts and parties without seating). Other seating options (parliamentary tables, rows of tables, etc.) can be used. Since reopening on January 3, 2009, an average of 40,000 visitors have used the various offers. In addition to our own events (including theater guest performances, children's theater, cabaret), a wide variety of (cultural) events, trade fairs by third parties and private celebrations (weddings, birthdays, Tamil-Hindu celebrations) as well as traditional and alternative carnivals are held in the Erkelenz town hall. Accessibility

The Stadthalle Erkelenz is barrier-free for visitors and artists in the event and backstage area and has at least 36 wheelchair spaces with row seating.
