history

The club was founded in 1806 by Joseph Xaver Heer as a music society. It is therefore the second oldest wind music in the canton of Aargau and one of the ten oldest wind music in Switzerland. In the middle of the 19th century the club got a bell tree instead of a club flag. In a somewhat smaller form than it exists today, analog instruments from German regimental bands probably served as models. Bell trees are rather rare in Swiss wind music and therefore the unique Klingnau specimen is also the characteristic symbol of this association. In 1910 the music association took part in a musical competition for the first time, the cantonal music festival in Oftringen . On April 7, 1914, the decision was made to use the historically justified name «Stadtmusik Klingnau» with the acquisition of the instruments.

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary, the well-known Swiss composer Stephan Jaeggi was commissioned to compose a festival march. The handwritten original score of the march "Jubilee Festival in Klingnau" is a rarity and is still in the town music archive today. On May 1, 1974, the "Youth Music Klingnau" was founded on the initiative of the town music to promote young talent. The youth music is intended to offer young people in the lower Aare valley an opportunity to make music among their peers. In 2006, the 200-year anniversary was celebrated with a festival in front of the historical backdrop of the old town.

Traditions

For a long time the town music has been responsible for the carnival bustle in the town. In particular, the traditions of the Räbhegels on Schmotzigen Thursday and the Weggliv tribute on Shrove Tuesday are maintained by the town music. Fahnen gotte or Fahnengötti are Brigitte Schleuniger Klingnau and Hans Roth sen. Klingnau.
