The Theater Rüsselsheim is a theater in Rüsselsheim am Main , the largest city in the Groß-Gerau district in Hesse .

history

The building was designed by the architect Dietrich Hirsch , a student of Hans Scharoun . The theater with orchestra pit has in the large hall on 865 seats on parquet and rank . In addition to the large hall, there is a studio stage with an auditorium with 140 seats. It was opened on September 6, 1969 with the opera La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi .

program

The program includes plays , concerts , operas , operettas , musicals , ballet and dance . It is purely a guest theater. Meetings and congresses also take place here. The annual Rüsselsheimer Filmtag, a festival of satirical short films, which has been taking place since 1994, is also held here. In addition, concerts by the Rüsselsheim Jazz Factory are held with renowned musicians.

The Classic-Café series in the foyer of the theater is designed by ensembles from the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts .
