The Stadtwerke Marburg GmbH is a municipal energy service company, dedicated 100% owned by the university town of Marburg is.
Field of activity
Stadtwerke Marburg is a supplier and network operator in the fields of electricity, gas, heat, water and wastewater. The municipal company is also responsible for the areas of mobility, waste disposal and broadband internet.
In the field of renewable energies, Stadtwerke Marburg realizes local and district heating projects, operates three wind power plants, a hydropower plant, two solar parks, several combined heat and power plants as well as a biogas and composting plant. The municipal company also manages parking spaces and houses as well as commercial real estate.
Parts of the bus fleet and utility vehicles of the Stadtwerke are powered by electricity and natural gas. In Marburg and the Marburg-Biedenkopf district, 22 public electric charging stations are also operated.

Stadtwerke Marburg Consult GmbH is a 100% subsidiary of Stadtwerke Marburg and provides local transport in Marburg with around 75 vehicles and 22 bus routes. Every year around 3.2 million kilometers of commercial vehicles are driven and around 18 million people are transported. In addition to the regular bus service, the municipal utilities also offer the collective call taxi (AST).
