Stahl Holdings is a chemical company based in Waalwijk in the Netherlands . The company produces specialty chemicals for processing leather . These include substances for cleaning raw hides and tanning the hides.
The company was founded in 1930 by Harry Stahl in Peabody , Massachusetts . In 1990, the company's headquarters moved from the United States to the Netherlands. In 2014 Clariant took over the leather chemicals business , and in 2017 the corresponding division of BASF was taken over.
With 67.5% of all company shares, the majority of Stahl Holdings is owned by the French holding company Wendel . Stahl Chemicals Germany GmbH is a German production site in Leinfelden-Echterdingen .
