Stahlfrequency is a German music project from Cologne , which was founded in 2003 by Markus Houben and Klaus Richter, who was born in Berlin, both originally from Cologne.

The project, which is stylistically categorized between rhythm-'n'-noise and electro, uses not only the genre-typical recordings from films and speeches but also noises from industrial systems, which are embedded in gloomy, heavily bass-heavy soundscapes.

During one year of presence on mp3.de this concept proved to be successful, so that in November 2004 the label Dark Wings released the debut album “Erstschlag”, which is musically located between Xotox and KiEw . In 2005, after the bankruptcy of Dark Wings, they switched to the Pro Noize label and in March 2006 released their second album "Coma Themes". In November 2011 the third album "Tectonic Structures" was released there.
