Stained Glass Morning is Scott McKenzie's second and final album , released in 1970. It was released through Ode Records and A&M Records .
After the hippie movement had come to a standstill and there was no end in sight in the Vietnam War , Scott MecKenzie had also turned away from the movement. The album was a pure folk-country-rock album and musically had nothing in common with its predecessor. This time the album consisted exclusively of own compositions. Thematically, the Vietnam War is taken up in a different way. Disillusionment is reflected in some texts. In contrast to an ideal, the fallen soldiers of the Vietnam War are directly addressed here.
It is noteworthy that it was recorded with excellent and well-known session musicians. Among them Ry Cooder on the electric and acoustic guitars with Bottleneck , Rusty Young (from Poco ) on the pedal steel guitar , Barry McGuire on the harmonica, Bunk Gardner (from the Mothers of Invention ) on the saxophone, and with Craig Doerge, the top California keyboard player of the 1970s.
Going Home Again was the only single that was released. Neither the album nor the single charted. In 2001, Stained Glass Morning was re-released as part of Stained Glass Reflections -Anthology.
