Stanca Scholz-Cionca is a German Japanologist .

Life

She studied Japanese Studies, Sinology and Theater Studies in Munich . After her doctorate in 1989 with her dissertation Aspects of Medieval Syncretism in the Image of Tenman Tenjin in the Nô , she was a research assistant at the Institute for East Asian Studies at LMU from 1990 to 1995 . After completing her habilitation in 1996 with the work The Origin and Morphology of Classical Kyôgen in the 17th Century , she represented the C4 professorship for Culture and Literature of Japan at the Free University of Berlin from 1996 to 1998 . From 1998 to 2000 she taught as a professor of Japanese culture at the University of Oslo . From 2000 to 2012 she held the chair for Japanese culture in Trier .
