Standard plastics
Standard plastics (also known as mass plastics ) are ( thermoplastic ) plastics that are produced very cheaply in large quantities and can be used in many ways. They comprise the five most commonly consumed plastics, which together make up 66% of the plastics used worldwide: polyethylene (PE-LD / PE-LLD and PE-HD), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polystyrene (PS). They are differentiated from engineering plastics (for technical applications) and high-performance plastics (for special applications).

Standard plastics are used in numerous areas of everyday life, especially for packaging and in construction (especially PVC).
