Paektusan funicular

The Paektusan Funicular ( 케이블카 백두산 / 향도 봉호 ) is a funicular that is located in Ryanggang-do Province on Paektusan , the highest mountain in North Korea . The closest major city is Hyesan , about 67 km away. The large Samjiyon monument is located nearby . The Himmelssee can be reached from the mountain station on foot or in a group orbit ; the border with the People's Republic of China is in the immediate vicinity . The route is just under 1.1 km long, and Abt switches are used for the switch in the middle of the routeutilized. Two cars of unknown origin are used for the transport. It is in operation from May to September, but it does not always run due to occasional power outages .
