Family coat of arms

Stange is the name of a Thuringian- Saxon noble family.

The von Stange family is u. a. related to the families of the Rabensteiner zu Döhlau and the Kindler von Zackenstein family.

The coat of arms in Johann Siebmacher's coat of arms book from 1605 shows a severed black bear paw with a red cut on a silver background. The helmet covers are black and silver. The crest consists of a black tournament hat with a silver hem. Above it grow four stalks and three flowers with black star-shaped blooms.

Stange was also the name of a German colonizer who came to Prussia on the Vistula in the 13th century; several places there were named after him.
