A bar circle

A compass is a drawing device . The compass is used to transfer larger dimensions and to mark out large circles.

It consists of a graduated profile bar and two sliders (also called runners) that can be slid on it, each with a mounting hole, into which needle, lead or tear-pen tips can be inserted depending on the application.

Bar circles are built for radii of up to more than two meters.
