Stanislas Deriemaeker

Stanislas Deriemaeker (born January 26, 1932 in Nukerke ) is a Belgian organist and music teacher.

Deriemaker studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Ghent, where he was Gabriel Verschraegen's organ student . He was a prizewinner at the international improvisation competition in 1958 and 1960 in Haarlem and at the international Bach competition in Ghent in 1959. From 1960 he was organist at the Sint-Jozefskerk from 1962 to 2002 at the Schyven organ in Antwerp Cathedral. Here he founded the annual cathedral concerts in 1963. His successor was his student Peter Van de Velde .

Deriemaeker has been teaching organ at the Ghent Conservatory since 1954, and from 1959 to 1967 music history at the Municipal Music Academy in Dendermonde. From 1965 to 1968 he was an organ teacher at the Lemmens Institute . In 1966 he became a lecturer in music analysis and musicology at the Catholic University of Leuven , in 1968 he followed Flor Peeters as professor of organ at the Koninklijk Vlaams Muziekconservatorium in Antwerp.

Deriemaeker undertook concert tours through Europe and the USA, Japan and the Philippines. He made recordings on both the Schyven and Metzler organs of Antwerp Cathedral.
