Stanislaw Lyudkewytsch
Stanislaw Pylypowytsch Ljudkewytsch ( Ukrainian Станіслав Пилипович Людкевич , Russian Станислав Филиппович Людкевич / Stanislaw Filippowitsch Ljudkewitsch ; born January 12 . Jul / 24. January 1879 greg. In Jarosław ; † 10. September 1979 in Lviv ) was a Ukrainian composer.
Lyudkewytsch studied at the Lemberg Conservatory and in Vienna with Alexander von Zemlinsky and Hermann Graedener . In 1910 he founded the Lysenko Conservatory and became the director of the Bojan Music Society . From 1939 he was also an employee of the Ethnological Institute of Lviv.
He composed two operas, seven tone poems, three piano concertos and a violin concerto, piano works, cantatas, choral works and songs. He also wrote didactic works and essays. His main merit is considered to be the publication of one thousand five hundred Ukrainian folk songs.
After Lyudkewytsch, the Stanislaw Lyudkewytsch State Music Academy in the city center of Lviv (previously the Mykola Lysenko Music Institute) has been named since December 19, 1939.
In September 2017, the first Lyudkevich Festival ( Людкевич Фест ) took place in Lviv .
