Stanley Pavey

Richard Stanley Pavey , often short Stan Pavey (born December 23, 1913 in Bermondsey (London) , United Kingdom , † May 1984 in Surrey ) was a British cameraman .

Live and act

Pavey had learned his trade in the 1930s and then worked as a camera assistant or simple cameraman until the first years of World War II . Director Basil Dearden , who had last used him (1943), gave Pavey the opportunity in 1944 to work as chief cameraman for the first time. In this role Pavey could at the very beginning of his career to work on two major films British entertainment art: it was in 1945 one of several cameramen in the episodic horror story of Night and supplied the by Carol Reed in the fall of 1948, shot in Vienna in screen classic The Third Man with additional recordings.

Pavey's later contributions, on the other hand, were much more conventional: he photographed comedies, thrillers, a war film as well as dramas and melodramas, most recently a third-rate science fiction horror film with the lurid German title Frankenstein 70 - The Monster with the Fireclaw . Pavey's career ended in 1967 with a short film commentary on Roman Polański's Dance of the Vampires . After that he received no more orders.
