history
Surname
Stapelfeldtstrasse was named after the director of Werft AG Weser, Franz Stapelfeldt (1877–1954). He managed the shipyard from 1915 to 1944.
development
The Lindenhof quarter was a typical working-class quarter for the employees of the AG Weser and the ports. The district with today (2019) around 8,000 inhabitants has developed into a multicultural district due to the influx of guest workers and other immigrants since the 1960s.
The closure of AG Weser in 1983 was a decisive event for the Gröpelingen district and for Bremen. In 1999 the Fatih Mosque was built, the largest mosque in Bremen. Since the beginning of the 21st century, the district has also been preferred as a place of residence by students and artists.
traffic
In 1981 the so-called Hafenrandstrasse road from Walle to Oslebshausen was expanded . The tram has been running in the middle of the street since then. Previously, the rails in the direction of Gröpelingen ran through adjacent narrow residential streets.
In the west of Bremen, line 3 was extended to AG Weser (today: Use Akschen stop) in 1921 or 1924 and in 1945/49 to today's terminus at Debstedter Straße / Depot. The tram line 11 ran from 1926 to 1970 from Gröpelingen (AG Weser and depot from 1945/49) to the Norddeutsche Hütte (Klöckner-Werke).
The Bremen tram goes through the street with line 3 (Gröpelingen - Weserwehr) to the terminus (depot). From March 2019 line 5 was set up again ( Bürgerpark - Überseestadt - Gröpelingen).
In local transport in Bremen , the terminus of tram lines 2, 3, 5 and 10 and the transfer station for bus lines 80/81 (Gröpelingen ↔ industrial ports), 82, 90 (Gröpelingen ↔ Neuenkirchen ), 91/92 (Gröpelingen ↔ Rönnebeck ), 93 (Gröpelingen ↔ Marßel) and 95 (Gröpelingen ↔ Bockhorn) as well as 660 (Bremen Hbf - Hagen ) and 680 (Bremen - Wallhöfen ).
