StarDict is a Offline - dictionary program. It requires GTK2 . The dictionaries are UTF-8 coded.

StarDict represents a front end for the DICT dictionary format, for which numerous free dictionaries and dictionaries are available on the Internet. A special feature is that in scan mode a text marked with the mouse is immediately translated ( tooltip ).

In addition to the quality of the dictionary entries used, the entry structure is a problem with programs such as StarDict. With StarDict, the data records only consist of two fields.

Standard import and export formats such as TBX , as well as an interface for WAN-based entry acquisition and dictionary publication are not available .
