StarTexter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

StarTexter was word processing software that was available for various 8-bit computers and was programmed in 6502 assembler . The software was characterized by a large number of functions, high adaptability and consistent support for German umlauts . Many parameters were freely selectable and with the StarFont tool supplied, you could create your own fonts or adapt existing ones to personal needs.

Version 4.0 was published in autumn 1985 as bookware (manual with 5.25-inch diskette ) by SYBEX-Verlag . The program was originally called ToyTexter , but was renamed StarTexter by the publisher for marketing reasons before it was first published. The author of the C64 original version , the adaptations for the C128 and the country versions for Norway , Sweden and the Netherlands was Toni Schwaiger . The Atari 8-bit implementation was done by Carsten Reinhardt, the last version 5.2 was a function upgrade by Michael Möller. There was also an MS-DOS variant. It was published in the third edition in 1989 under the name SYBEX StarTexter PC. The author was Reinhold Krumscheid.

The production and distribution of the C64 version with the highest sales of all variants was discontinued ten years after its appearance. Other programs in the Star software series from SYBEX Verlag were StarDatei (Toni Schwaiger) and StarPainter (Heino Hansen and Elmar Sonnenschein).
