Toni Schwaiger

Toni Schwaiger (* 1966 in Lenggries ) is a German programmer and journalist .

The autodidact made a name for himself as a software developer with the programs StarTexter and StarDatei , which he developed in 1985 for the 8-bit home computer C64 . He also created the versions for the C128 , and Schwaiger was involved in the implementation for the Atari XL and in adapting these programs for the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway. This software has been sold for more than 10 years and, along with Vizawrite and Textomat, is one of the best-known word processors for the C64.

Schwaiger worked as an editor for various publishing houses, including SYBEX Verlag and Markt + Technik Verlag , for example for the home computer magazine Happy Computer. He was a founding member of the computer magazine 68000er and in 1988 managing editor of ST magazine. In May 1997 he was part of a three-person development team that started GameStar . His best-known works included the production of various editorial comedy series that have achieved cult status among PC gamers: Multimedia letters to the editor ( PC Player ), Raumschiff GameStar and Die Redaktion (GameStar). On June 30, 2009, his position as media production manager at IDG Entertainment Media GmbH ended. Since then, Schwaiger has been working as an emergency paramedic in the rescue service, producing videos for his YouTube channel and programming iOS applications ( Chinaskop, Medical Rescue Sim ).
