Star Trek: The Helena Chronicles is a Star Trek fan film series that is a spin-off based on the events of the Star Trek fan film series Star Trek: Hidden Frontier . The latter in turn is based on the ninth Star Trek movie Star Trek: The Uprising .
All scenes that were not played in real locations were filmed using green screen technology and combined with still images from the series or self-created backgrounds. The space scenes were created by self-produced computer-generated imagery effects (CGI).
In The Helena Chronicles, only some of the former actors from Hidden Frontier play . Most of the people who are not stationed on the USS Helena are listed as guest actors.

The Helena Chronicles is largely set on the USS Helena , which enters service in the final episode of Season 6 in Hidden Frontier . Thus playing Captain Tolian Narro (Larry LaVerne), former Commander of the USS Excelsior , first at the time the command. After going missing since the last episode of Season 7, Commander Theresa Faisal takes command.
