Starflyer (ride)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Praterturm in Vienna

As a ride, the Starflyer is a special type of chain carousel from the Austrian manufacturer Funtime . Other manufacturers have copied the idea and are building similar rides.

It consists of a structure to which the gondolas are attached. This has a drive and sets the gondolas in rotation. At the same time, the suspension structure is pulled up on a free-standing steel lattice tower. At the highest point, the Starflyer usually slows down before the rotating suspension structure is lowered to the ground again. The journey time is around four minutes. Starflyers exist in both stationary and transportable versions.

A formerly highest star flyer is the Praterturm in Wiener Wurstelprater . The current record is held by the NewEngland SkyScreamer at 125 m.

Rocket

Detail view of the
Rocket ride

Rocket is a chain carousel from the Goetzke showman business, similar to the Starflyer . The transportable, 62.5 meter high ride-up ride from Funtime premiered in 2010 at the Düsseldorf Rheinkirmes . In contrast to the Starflyer , it does not have individually suspended seats, but instead carries six seats each for a maximum of 30 passengers on five rod-shaped girders that are attached to brackets with ropes.

During the journey, during which the booms are raised to a height of 60 meters, the rod to which the seats are attached is rotated several times so that the passenger repeatedly sits upside down in the gondola.
