The Prater Tower in Vienna Prater on piece 59a is a ride on the type Star Flyer . It opened on May 1, 2010.

construction

The Praterturm was built by the Austrian company Funtime in just over half a year. With a height of 117 meters, it was the world's highest chain carousel from its construction until the opening of the Eclipse in Gröna Lund amusement park in Sweden in May 2013 and is still the highest amusement ride in Austria. The tower has a mass of 200 tons and is anchored in a plate foundation that is 16 m in diameter and two meters deep and weighs 720 tons. The top of the tower is a shiny gold onion dome, in which three 2.7 m tall clocks are built. There are also 1,200 LEDs in the top of the tower for nighttime lighting.

business

The carousel has 12 double seats with belt and bar protection and transports 24 people per trip up to a height of 95 meters. The turning speed increases with increasing altitude and finally reaches a circumferential speed of 60 km / h at a radius of 18 meters. A trip takes between three and four minutes. The founder and owner of the ride is Funtime HandelsgmbH owned by Prater entrepreneur Walter Pondorfer.
