The START scholarship is also awarded in parts of Austria by the START Scholarship Austria Association.

A press release from the Hertie Foundation in 2014 stated in more detail:

“The core is the ideal support with seminars u. a. in the areas of communication, engagement, personality development, nature and technology, politics, sport, art and music, holiday academies and the annual summer campus. In addition, there are visits to cultural events, excursions to companies, clubs, public institutions, working groups and advice on training, study and life planning. "

carrier

The scholarship program is run by the START Foundation - an initiative of the Hertie Foundation .

It is supported by around 120 partners from politics, business and society financially and ideally or with personal help. The supporters, also known as sponsors, include private individuals, companies and associations.

reception

The START scholarship was awarded in 2010 by the non-profit analysis and consulting company Phineo with the "Active" donation seal for its high social impact.

In 2009, however, criticism arose from a study that the foundation would often award scholarships to students from families with a higher educational background, which would result in "a similar cementing of origins with regard to the future that already characterizes society as a whole".
