Stasys Mėčius
Stasys Mėčius (* 1955 ) is a strongman and heavy athletics trainer from Lithuania .
life and career
His first trainer was Algirdas Eidukas . After intensive training, he took part in the first sports competition in 1971. In 1976 he became Soviet Lithuanian champion; he repeated this performance nine more times in succession. Mėčius was the Soviet-Lithuanian and Soviet record champion (400 kg in a duel , 1981) and youth world champion.
Stasys Mėčius became two-time Lithuanian champion and runner-up in the national strongman sports competition. From 2002 he worked as a trainer in heavy athletics . Mėčius coached the Lithuanian national youth team. Among his students is Artūras Skavičius (* 1986), who won the bronze medal at the European Championship.
Mėčius lives in the Lithuanian port city of Klaipėda .
