Vakarų ekspresas is a daily newspaper and media company in the Lithuanian port city of Klaipėda . It has been published since 1990 and appears six times a week. The supplements are "Autosalonas" ('Autosalon'), "Sveikata" ('Health'), " Litas prie lito", "Jūros vartai" ('Sea Gate'), "Kultūros uostas" ('Culture Port') and "Šeštadienis" ('Saturday'). In 2011 the company had 52 employees. The director of UAB “Vakarų ekspresas” and editor-in-chief of the newspaper is Gintaras Tomkus . It belongs to the Lithuanian media group Respublikos Leidinių grupė .

history

From 1932 Mažoji Lietuva was published. After the first meeting of the Lietuvos Persitvarkymo Sąjūdis activists in July 1988, a group of young journalists and technical staff from the "Tarybinė Klaipėda" (Eng. " Soviet Klaipėda"), the Lietuvos komunistų partija newspaper , published the newspaper "Persitvarkymosi naujūda" with xenography ('Restructuring News'). From the second number she was called Mažoji Lietuva . From 1988 to 1989 Mažoji Lietuva was published twice a week as a newspaper by Sąjūdis in the city of Klaipėda and until 1990 as a weekly by Sąjūdis in the country of Klaipėda. In 1993 the weekly Mažoji Lietuva was stopped and Vakarų ekspresas became a daily newspaper.

In 1996 the editorial offices were set up in Gargždai , Šilutė and Kretinga . On July 1, 1996, UAB “Brolių Tomkų Leidyba” took over the rights from UAB “Mažoji Lietuva”. From 1999 there was website www.vakaru-ekspresas.lt. Www.ve.lt. has existed since 2004.
