Statens vegvesen

The Statens vegvesen is a Norwegian , governmental authority , which is responsible for construction and maintenance of Riksveier ( imperial roads , similar to federal roads in Germany) and Fylkesveier has (similar to country roads), as well as the supervision of vehicles carrying and transport in general.

The Authority consists of the Vegdirektorat, (five regional divisions Regionvegkontorer called) and 30 field departments. There are several tobacco shops in each area . For larger construction projects, separate departments are set up that report directly to the regional departments.

The entrepreneurial activity of Statens vegvesen was outsourced to the Mesta stock corporation in 2003 .
