Station Dysthymia is a funeral doom band founded in 2007 .

history

Station Dysthymia was founded in Novosibirsk in 2007 as an anonymous project. The musicians involved appear under initials as part of the project. The group self- published their debut Only Gray Days in 2009 . For the upcoming 2013 overhead, Without Any Fuss, the Stars Were Going Out , the band signed a contract with Solitude Productions . After the album was released, the group played a few concerts in Moscow .

The response to Overhead, Without Any Fuss, the Stars Were Going Out was mostly positive, in some cases outstanding. Only for the Webzine Metal.de was the album given 3 out of 10 possible points and criticized as “a very tough and unappealing affair” that lacks something “around this monotonous and one-dimensional musical journey” to miss that certain something ”. Other reviews, however, were highly praiseworthy. Chaim Drishner gave the album 8.5 out of 10 points for Chronicles of Chaos and counted it to "the best releases of the year". For Doom-Metal.com, Louis Halard reviewed Overhead, Without Any Fuss, the Stars Were Going Out , rated it 9 out of 10 and called it "an excellent album that impresses with its strong atmosphere and skillful songwriting".

style

The webzine Doom-Metal.com describes the music played by Station Dysthymia as " Funeral Doom with some Esoteric influences." In addition to Esoteric, the band also refers to genre interpreters such as Evoken and Dolorian as essential influences.

"Dystopian soundscapes of total nihilism, industrial dehumanization and urban decay you could actually feel hitting you right in the face, with their foul, hot stench, strange, almost psychedelic leanings, guitar effects and strumming that correspond with shoegaze and post-rock-ish etiquette, droning high-pitched and primitive "solos" and spoken, often processed, almost militarized vocals chanting over and over again how fucked we all are and that we should embrace the End of Times and all that. "

"Dystopian soundscapes of total nihilism, industrial dehumanization and urban decay, which could actually hit the face, with their foul, hot stench, strange, almost psychedelic tendencies, guitar effects and strumming, which correspond to shoegazing and post-rock , smoothing out booming high pitched Solos and spoken, often distorted, almost military voices that keep singing about how fucked we all are and that we should just accept the end of times.
