The statue of Sir John Moore is a memorial in the Scottish city of Glasgow . In 1966 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

The memorial commemorates the Glasgow-born Scottish general John Moore (1761-1809), who fell in the Napoleonic Wars near A Coruña in 1809 . The monument was created by the British sculptor John Flaxman in 1819. The total cost was £ 3,000. The monument was the earliest of many that grace the square today.
The statue of Sir John Moore occupies a prominent position in the middle of the south flank of George Square in central Glasgow. Adjacent are the Statue of James Watt and the Statue of Lord Clyde . The statue rests on a cylindrical pedestal made of polished granite . The larger than life bronze sculpture shows John Moore standing in a heroic pose. The body, wrapped in a cloth, is slightly bent.
