Statue of Arslantepe

It is the representation of a ruler of the neo-Hittite empire Melid . With his left hand he has grabbed a corner of his robe while he is holding a mug with his right hand. His hairstyle, beard and face, in particular, show Assyrian influences in the way he is depicted . The curly hair is held together by a tiara and ends at shoulder level. In contrast, the garment corresponds to typical late Hittite works.
