The Dushanzi reservoir ( Bulgarian язовир Душанци ) is located in the Sredna Gora Mountains , south of the Balkan Mountains in central Bulgaria . The lake is located near the village of the same name in the municipality of Pirdop , about 90 km east of Sofia .
The dam can be reached by car, if the road Sofia- Sopot - Karlovo - Sliven - Burgas follows. The area around the reservoir is a popular area for hiking and walking, picnics, water sports and fishing due to the fresh mountain air and the beautiful landscape. However, it is not suitable for swimming because the water is very cold and contains sudden shoals .
The Topolnitsa River , which feeds the reservoir, is another suitable place for fishing.
