The reservoir Těrlicko ( Czech vodní nádrž Těrlicko ) is located east of Těrlicko in the Stonávka valley in the Czech Republic . It is used to supply industrial plants with water as well as for flood protection and recreation.
geography
The Těrlicko reservoir is located in the foothills of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids . Its dam is located south of the Albrechtice municipality . Dolní Těrlicko, Zadky, Zelené Město, Těrlicko, Osiny, Životice and Pacalůvka are located around the lake.
history
The reservoir was built between 1955 and 1964 as a process water reservoir for the Karwiner coal mines and the Třinec ironworks . For this purpose, a 770,000 m³ earth embankment dam was built in the Carpathian flysch zone , which was reinforced with gravel, crushed stone and burned dump material. The villages Horní Těrlicko and Dolní Těrlicko in the Stonávka valley were flooded by the reservoir; the villages were newly laid out on the hilltops on both sides of the valley. In the mid-1970s, the water inflow to the reservoir for the service water supply of the Dětmarovice power plant was increased via a water supply channel from the Ropičanka to the Černý potok.
