Stavrochori ( Greek Σταυροχώρι ( n. Sg. ) Partly also listed as Stavrochorio , in German about 'Kreuzdorf') is a place on Crete with about 160 inhabitants. He belongs to the local community of the same name in the municipality of Makrys Gialos in the municipality of Ierapetra .

Stavrochori is located in Eastern Crete, about 6 km north of Koutsouras on a connecting road from the south to the north coast to Sitia through the Dikti Mountains . Together with Koutsouras and the villages of Lapithos (2 km north) and Tsikkalaria (4 km south), Stavrochori forms a municipality with 1,016 inhabitants.

Infrastructure

The originally larger town has numerous abandoned buildings. There are two taverns and a church in the village, and a little chapel outside. The supply of the population is done by traveling dealers.
