Stecherschleuse

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stecherschleuse is today a district of Niederfinow (Barnim), in which around 250 citizens live and owes its name to the lock of the Finow Canal, built by Johann Gottfried Stecher in 1745 .

It was renewed in the course of its expansion in 1877 and repaired after war damage in 1957/58. Büdner settled in the immediate vicinity of the lock , and the small settlement on the edge of the valley or in the side valleys of the Finow gradually developed . The brickworks that were built in the second half of the 19th century used the clay marl on the edge of the valley and the Finow Canal for transport.

Around the Stecherschleuse is one of the most attractive sections of the Finow Valley.
